New app available for advanced colon cancer patients

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has recently announced that it has partnered with CollabRx in order to provide patients dealing with advanced stage colon cancer unparalleled access to cutting edge information regarding their disease by way of ... what else ... an App: Therapy Finder - Colorectal Cancer.

Available at the College's website and patient portal, MyBiopsy.org, the app is designed for the patient to find personalized information on cancer therapies

"With advances in genomics, we now have a greater understanding of the genetic profile of a patient's tumor and know that cancer is no longer a one size fits all disease," said Stanley J. Robboy, M.D., FCAP, president of the CAP and pathology professor and vice chair for Faculty Affairs at Duke University in Durham, N.C. "Our partnership with CollabRx will put this valuable information into the hands of patients and hopefully lead to better patient outcomes."

The app was co-founded by metastatic melanoma survivor Marty Tenenbaum and the content is overseen by former editor-in-chief of Medscape and e-Medicine, pathologist George Lundberg, M.D., FCAP.
