Novel anti CD30 treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma begins Phase I trial

Germany-based biotech company Affimed Therapeutics has announced that enrollments has begun for its Phase I study of the company's anti-CD30 treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma (HL).

The treatment, called AFM13 TandAb antibody, is described by Affimed Therapeutics as such:

"AFM13 TandAb antibody is an innovative tetravalent, bispecific antibody" based on proprietary technology that "binds the CD30 target molecule on the surface of Reed-Sternberg tumor cells and simultaneously activates natural killer (NK) cells."

The company hopes to enroll at least 40 patients in this Phase I study. The drug has already received orphan drug status in both Europe and the United States.
