Fiction fan with terminal cancer granted an incredible wish

harry turtledove.jpg

What do you do when your friend is a terminal cancer patient and a fan of the book series The War That Came Early by Harry Turtledove, and you know that his greatest wish is to know how the series ends before he dies?

If you're a user of the website Reddit you turn to that enormous community for help, like site user Kivakid did. What he wound up getting for his friend, Nachu Bhatnagar, was more than Bhatnagar ever could have imagined.

Kivakid put the word out and another user in the community was able to secure for Bhatnagar an advanced copy of the next book in the series from the publisher, months before the book hit the bookstore shelves.

On top of that, author Turtledove learned of the effort and agreed to talk to Bhatnagar by phone about the direction of the series.

You can see video of the gift being presented at mediabistro.com (NSFW- a bit of swearing from a shocked and thrilled Bhatnagar).
