A reliable source I have here
A reliable source I have here regarding urinary incontinence following a radical prostatectomy says that most patients regain continence "within days to weeks" following the removal of the catheter you're sent home with, although one in five patients experiences 'stress incontinence', meaning loss of some urine following a cough or a laugh for instance. Total incontinence is very rare.
it appears that radiation for prostate cancer has more of an effect on the bowels than on urinary function; such that following radiotherapy an obstructed bowel or irritation when 'voiding' isn't uncommon but is "limited in extent."
In other words, either situation should right itself within a couple weeks.
